GETTING A DRIVERS LICENSE
If you have made aliya with a valid drivers license from another
country, you need to go to MEMSI, the Israeli Automobile Club to get photographed
and get a green medical form which must be signed by an eye doctor and
a GP.
You then take this form to The Licensing Bureau (Misrad Harishui)
with your identity card and your immigrant card.
If you have never had a license before or did not get an Israeli one within
the first year after aliya you need to follow the same procedure
and take a
written theoretical exam (Sun. to Thu. 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) for
which you
pay NIS 113. This can be done in English. The book needed to study
for the test is also available in English and can be bought from
almost any
bookstore. You must then sign up at a driving school and take a
course of 28
lessons.
