PASSOVER BREAD
[ Recipe: Simone, San Francisco ]
This is a recipe for substitute bread. It can be used as pizza dough or morning donuts style according to the spices you add. Turn on your oven 350F. (180C)
You need: 2 cups matso meal, 1 cup water (use instead of water, apple or orange juice for donut recipe) 1/2 cup oil, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp salt 4 eggs
Spices: 1 tablespoon oregano (for pizza dough) OR for bread (1/2 tbsp cracked pepper or 1 Tbsp onion flakes or 1 Tbsp rosemary or 1/2 tbsp hot pepper flakes or any spice you want your bread to taste like) OR for donut (1 tbsp cinnamon or 3 drops of almond essence or 3 drops of vanilla essence or the two of them mixed together) Combinations are up to your taste. Everything is possible.
Boil water, sugar, salt and oil. When it is boiling, add matso meal. Then one egg at a time. Let the mixture cool down. Add your choice of spices. On a greasy cookie sheet, form balls (1 inch diameter) Put in oven for 55 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy!
