Michael Smerconish is the Philadelphia market's premier local talk radio host and his 3-6 p.m. drive-time show is a lightning rod of spirited discussion.

The Philadelphia Daily News calls him "WPHT's Mr. Right!"

Smerconish is stimulating, intelligent and provocative, and he will match wits with anybody on the issues. Radio guests have ranged from President George W. Bush to Charleton Heston, Peter Frampton and Jackie Mason.

Smerconish, an attorney, also writes and hosts a daily commentary on the top-rated KYW-AM Newsradio 1060, is a columnist for the Philadelphia Daily News, and appears regularly as a guest on local and national television. He has appeared on The O'Reilly Factor on the Fox News Channel, the Today Show on NBC-TV, and American Morning with Paula Zahn on CNN.

He has won numerous awards, including two Philadelphia Achievement in Radio awards, and Philadelphia Magazine twice named him one of the 100 Most Powerful Philadelphians.

In January, Smerconish traveled to Cuba where he interviewed and dined with Fidel Castro.

Smerconish is a 1984 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Lehigh University where he majored in both government and journalism. He is a 1987 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He lives in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Lavinia and their four children.
