Chris Duel in Israel

Chris Duel is the host of the "Chris Duel Show", which airs weekdays 4—7pm on News-Talk 550 KTSA. A hometown boy, Chris has forged a connection with the people of San Antonio that joyously shines through in every broadcast.

Chris and his "Usual Suspects" tackle all sides of the day’s BIG stories as they ride shotgun with you on your drive home. Speaking with national newsmakers and local experts, Chris and his guests are a drivetime dream team that provides compelling and entertaining perspectives on the day’s news.

In 2003, Chris’ talk show became the #1 listened-to radio program (among all San Antonio stations, AM & FM) in Afternoon Drive by 25—54 year old listeners.

A well-known face in the community, Chris has served for the past four seasons as official courtside host/presenter/entertainer at the San Antonio Spurs NBA home games.

Chris has traveled extensively, broadcasting from such remote locations as the aircraft carrier U. S. S. John C. Stennis while it was deployed for combat in the North Arabian Sea after 9/11, and he was one of ten Clear Channel talk show hosts nationwide selected to broadcast from Ground Zero on the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks. He has also broadcast from various NBA cities on the Spurs 2003 road to the Championship and from two Super Bowls.

He earned a B. A. with a double major in broadcast journalism and film from the University of Southern California, along with a Masters degree in film producing from the USC film school. Chris also spent two years as a Cadet at the United States Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs.

Having lost his father at the age of four and seeing the impact the deaths of his brother and sister had upon their children, Chris is honored to serve on the board of the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas. Chris is also a survivor of his own "dark night of the soul,‘ which he details in his forthcoming book, Hitting Bottom: Lessons From The Abyss. It has been over a decade since Chris weathered the ’dark night." He has felt moved to research, make sense of, and integrate the lessons he learned from this life-changing, yet rarely discussed and largely misunderstood event. He now shares what he has learned about the universal human experiences of Hitting Bottom, The Dark Night of The Soul and ultimately Taking The Leap into authentic selfhood.

Chris Duel broadcast live from the studios of the Jerusalem Post, October 25—29, 2004, as a guest of America’s Voices in Israel.
