LATEST UPDATE
ISRAEL HASBARA (INFORMATION) COMMITTEE
MAY 2002 MONTHLY REPORT
AFTER THE FIRST
150 DAYS...
The Israel Hasbara Committee
(IHC) was conceived and developed in late November 2001 and commenced
operations, providing information and consulting services, 2 January,
2002. During the fifth month of operations the following was achieved.
- Responses were received from persons in 58 countries on five continents, including 45 states of the United States.
- Even into the fifth month of operation, the number of volunteers continued to increase daily.
- As part of the Israel Hasbara Committee policy, all letters of inquiry receive responses, providing information, direction and advice on how to combat anti-Israel bias and anti-Semitism. Many letters addressing individual questions are written every single day to persons around the world.
- In response to members' complaints
in several countries, action is being taken to correct gross distortions
of the truth and contest anti-Semitism in certain publications.
- As an integral part of Israel Hasbara Committee policy, all those involved in hasbara are encouraged to work together and pool their resources. This will increase the overall effectiveness in the fight against distortion and misinformation against Israel in the media. To this end, an ongoing series of meetings has been held with a number of parties to explore ways in which such effectiveness might be realized.
- Work is progressing on launching
the new website. The new site address is www.infoisrael.net.
- On the new website many different articles, both original and reprinted will appear under various sections to assist members and the general public to better understand and combat anti-Israel bias and anti-Semitism.
- The IHC is a volunteer, non profit and totally independent organization and therefore must rely on donations to expand. Information about how to donate will appear on the new website. A growing number of persons have indicated they wish to make donations.
- Our program to abstract articles is being developed around the world.
DURING THE NEXT 30 DAYS...
- The new website should be operative
during this period.
- We hope that the automated
data bank will be operative shortly.
- Solicitations will be made
to various organizations for funding.
- Ongoing efforts will be made
to form alliances in the hasbara field for greater effectiveness.
- The process to sort all the
many responses from around the world should be more advanced and efficient.
- Spokespersons around the world are being appointed.
NOTE
TO ALL MEMBERS WHEN SENDING CORRESPONDENCE
Please indicate your name, city,
state/province and country on all communication. When someone
from the U.S. signs just "Harry" or from England signs just
"Jonathan" it is difficult to know how to file such letters.
However, if you wish to keep your name confidential that
is acceptable.
