Olympic village to raise Israeli flag
By Viva Sarah Press

(September 6) The Israeli flag will be officially unfurled at the Olympic Village in Sydney during a ceremony today. As is traditional at the Games, a country's flag is raised upon the arrival of its delegation and remains up until the end of the competition.

Schoolchildren from Sydney's Moriah College Jewish Day School will lead the Israeli athletes and Olympic Committee members in the national anthem.

Rooting for Israel, Judoka Daniella Krakover may be competing for the Argentinian team, but the 25-year-old will still be rooting for the Blue and White. Krakover, who is representing Argentina in the 70 kg weight class, met with the Israeli team in Sydney yesterday. 'It is a great feeling to meet with my friends from Israel again,' she said. 'From my point of view, it is a dream come true to compete in the Olympics, something I wasn't able to achieve in Israel.'

Krakover missed out on winning a spot in the under-63 kg class, and therefore tried out for the heavier event. 'Officially I'm representing Argentina,' she said. 'But, I also feel like I'm representing Israel.'

Krakover, who has been living in Argentina for the last 10 months, said she will return to South America after the Olympics where she hopes to continue her athletic training. She is one of nine judokas from Argentina.

Israel's judo team comprises of Orit Bar-On, Arik Ze'evi, and Gil Ofer.
