8000-4000 BCE - Stone Age

A cultural revolution gets underway in which humans progress from gathering plants to planned cultivation and settlement. Agricultural settlements develop in the upper Jordan Plain, Yarmuk Valley and Oasis of Jericho, part of what is later dubbed the "fertile crescent." Communities become larger and more diversified, and agrarian fertility cults emerge as evidenced by figures and temples unearthed in archeological excavations.
