| 63-324 CE - Roman Occupation
The Roman general Pompey exploits the weakness of Hasmonean rule to capture Jerusalem and transform the Hasmonean state into a semi-autonomous regin under the control of Rome. The period of Roman rule, first indirect, and after 68 CE, direct, continues until the Byzantine period.
