20. Boris Yeltsin
It was originally supposed to be a visit from a president, but with
his sudden resignation on New Year's Eve, Boris Yeltsin's visit during the
first week of January became a tour by an ex-president. The 68-year-old
made the most out of his last real state visit, received with full honor
guard and fanfare, and seemed vigorous as ever, drowning out his Hebrew
translator on occasion.
