49. Wolfgang Thierse
The shadow of controversy regarding the compensation of forced
laborers during the Nazi era hung over the visit of Bundestag President
Wolfgang Thierse, which coincided with heavy and unpleasant negotiations
between German representatives and attorneys representing survivors.
Invited here by Knesset Speaker Avraham Burg, the two held a discussion in
the Knesset on expanding Holocaust education with cooperation between
Germany and Israel.
