They came, they swam, they left
In Israel's 52nd year, the rich, famous, and obscure came to visit. Here are our 52 top distinguished tourists

7. Lionel Jospin
It was a painful visit in more ways than one. First, French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin was greeted in Jerusalem in February by the wrong flag - someone had mixed up the stripes and put the Dutch flag all over town instead of the French banner. Then, while speaking to students at Bir Zeit University in the Palestinian Authority, students threw stones at him and he was injured lightly in the head. The students were protesting Jospin's description of Hizbullah attacks on IDF soldiers as "acts of terror." Then, to add insult to injury, the whole visit caused Jospin's popularity among French voters to slump. We don't think he'll be coming back soon.
