They came, they swam, they left
In Israel's 52nd year, the rich, famous, and obscure came to visit. Here
are our 52 top distinguished tourists
6. Hillary Clinton
She wasn't fooling anyone - this was no mere goodwill visit. It was
clear to everyone that the first lady's decision to drop by in November
with daughter Chelsea was fueled by her Senate ambitions and her desire to
woo the New York Jewish vote. Things got bumpy for Hillary, however, when
she sat by politely while Suha Arafat, wife of the PA chairman, hurled
accusations that Israel used "poison gas" and deliberately elevated the
cancer rate among Palestinians. Hillary's likely opponent, Rudolph
Giuliani, wasted no time in pouncing on her delayed condemnation of the
remarks.
