In Israel's 52nd year, the rich, famous, and obscure came to visit. Here
are our 52 top distinguished tourists
35. Madeleine Albright
She came in December and helped facilitate what was supposed to be a
breakthrough - initiating the first talks between Israel and Syria in four
years. Unfortunately, the talks quickly fizzled. Albright is a reluctant
mediator, with visibly little patience for the Middle East run-around. But
her boss, Bill Clinton, is still pressing for a spot in the history books,
and she is due to return again soon to heighten US involvement in
negotiations, and to try and restart the Israel-Syria talks.
