Knesset facts

(June 8) - Number of parties: 15.

The 14th Knesset began with 11 parties.

New MKs: 40.

Four of them have served before: Avraham Burg (Labor), Haim Druckman (NRP), Moshe Arens (Likud), and Roni Milo (Likud; now Center). Only party without new MKs is the National Union.

Men: 106

Women: 14; four of them in Meretz.

Number of women in the previous Knesset: nine.

The previous record was 12 women in the 13th Knesset.

Oldest MK: Shimon Peres - 76.

Other septuagenarians - Moshe Arens, 74; Rehavam Ze'evi, 73; and Ariel Sharon, 71

Youngest MK: Eli Yishai, 36.

Eighteen lawyers

Four kibbutznikim - three from Meretz, Haim Oron, Anat Maor, and Avshalom Vilan, and One Israel's Elie Goldschmidt.
