| ULPAN AKIVA: HEBREW LANGUAGE AND CULTURE CENTER | |
| The beautiful language of the Bible can be learnt through modern Hebrew and the experience creates a meeting point for past, present and future of the land of Israel. On Ulpan Akiva's Mediterranean campus in down town Netanya you learn Hebrew or Arabic and their cultures. You can come alone or as part of a group and immediately merge in to an international dynamic study community. If you are at university, you will meet fellow university students from all over the world and have a chance to gain University Credit upon graduation.
Netanya sea side resort, in the center of Israel offers its attractions: strolling on narrow streets, the Kings parks along the beach and swimming in the sea. Visiting one of the most authentic open markets in the area or shopping and having coffee in a cafe by the sea cliff line just a block away from your door will add to your unique experience of learning a language where it is spoken. You will have a chance to practice the Hebrew and chat with locals. Scuba diving, surfing and gliding are available at the main beach in the city. With an appeal for all seasons Ulpan Akiva's language and culture program is supplemented by study tours, as well as by folklore, music, culture, traditional Shabbath and more. Ulpan Akiva is famous worldwide. It has acquired national and international recognition. The Honorary Mention of the Unesco Prize for Peace in Education was awarded to Ulpan Akiva in December l998 in recognition of Ulpan Akiva's outstanding contribution to the promotion of peace and tolerance. Ideal for the whole family, Ulpan Akiva encourages families to share their Ulpan experience together. Several programs are available depending on the age of the children. This is what one participant had to say: "Learning Hebrew as a family on the same campus, at the same time but through different programs was a very unique and rewarding experience. Our children loved to learn Hebrew while having fun; in the end they did not want to leave! Not only did our Hebrew improve, we all had a great time and made new friends." To study at Ulpan Akiva is to experience the wide spectrum of people and ideas which has helped shape Israel. In addition to the dedication and care of the teachers and staff, you learn Hebrew through music, through the history of the language and of the Jewish people, and through the community of individuals coming to Ulpan Akiva from all over the world. Two and three generation families, recent immigrants, university students; come to learn a common language through which they can share their experiences and learn from each other. The results are fantastic: you leave with both a better command of Hebrew, and a fuller understanding of Israeli culture through its reflection in the lives and histories of those whom you meet at Ulpan Akiva.
