REUT - The Israel Fellowship for Community Mental Health
Description	What is REUT? REUT means friendship. REUT is about giving people a chance at life. REUT is a nonprofit organization, which initiates, develops and provides sheltered housing and other rehabilitative services in the Jerusalem community for individuals suffering from psychiatric disorders. REUT offers people who were previously hospitalized an alternative to institutional living - a chance to work and live productive lives outside of a hospital. Since our inception in 1997 we have established two hostels and one transitional apartment in residential neighborhoods in Jerusalem. Each hostel's staff includes a director, social workers, counselors and housemother. REUT is administered by a volunteer board whose members are senior professionals in the field of mental health in Jerusalem.
Goals For The Future	It is our aim to provide a full range of high level professional services within the community along the continuum of mental health rehabilitation. In order to increase our activities, we are actively seeking to purchase an additional facility or facilities. Furthermore, as REUT is committed to guaranteeing quality care, we plan to expand our therapeutic/rehabilitative work in the areas of vocational counseling and employment opportunities, psychosocial program development and additional innovative activities for hostel residents.
Affiliations	REUT is affiliated with the Richmond Fellowship International (which is based in the United Kingdom.)
Programs & Events	Some of the activities that are planned for the winter of 1999 - 2000 and would benefit from your support include the following: Fundraising and planning the building projects mentioned above. Eilat: As a result of the success of the hostel's 3 day trip to Eilat last winter, a second trip is scheduled which will include visits to a number of new tourist sites. The residents are awaiting the outing with great anticipation. Chanukah Party: REUT is hosting a Chanukah party for all the residents, staff and members of the board at the Jerusalem Sheraton Plaza Hotel. Plans are already underway for a Purim celebration and your sponsorship would be welcome. Newsletter: We are putting together a newsletter that will keep our friends informed as to our ongoing program. Please let us know if we can add you to our mailing list. Sheltered Workshop: Intensive efforts are underway to determine a venue and finalize the products for a REUT sponsored work place.
