SECOND THOUGHTS
The Editor, The Palestine Post
Sir, - In connection with the publication in your paper on April 29 of the exchanges of letters between Dr. Magnes and the G.O.C. with regard to the security of the convoy to Hadasah Hospital on April 13, an important must be made..
The G.O.C. replied to Dr. Magnes in two letters, the first dated April 15 and the second April 23. In the first, two days after the slaughter, the G.O.C. did not refer to the fact that a brave officer of the Highland Infantry risked his life at 11.15 a.m. on the morning of the attack to offer the Jews in their immobilized vehicles a transfer to his, and that they refused.
The G.O.C. made no reference to this action until April 23. Is it possible that when the earlier letter was written he was not yet aware of this atttempt?

ELIMINATION OF A.H.E.
The Editor, The Palestine Post
Sir, - Your report me this morning as saying at a press conference that "British policy in Palestine in the past months has been to eliminate the Arab Higher Committee as an effective political instrument." My exact words were: "If there is one thing which the development of events in Palestine has done, it has been to kill the Arab Higher Executive as an effective political instrument." I as not referring to British Policy, but to Jewish military action, and I am sorry if I failed to make this sufficiently clear.

STATE OF ISRAEL
The Editor, The Palestine Post
Sir, - May I add one more suggestion to those already made in the press concerning the name of the Jewish State?
I do not recall whether the name "State of Israel" has been proposed; but I think this suits the circumstances better than any other name. The majority opinion on the question of the name was in favour of 'Eretz Israel" (land of Israel), while the minority argued that this was unacceptable because the State, under the Partition Plan, only covered part of the country. I suggest that the name "State of Israel" (in Hebrew "Medinath Israel") meets both points of view.

DESERT VANDALS
The Editor, The Palestine Post
Sir, - No one could read the report in the The Palestine Post of the destruction of the P.B.S. Studies by the Arab Legion without deep regret. There is little wonder that desert vandals who are possessed of a blind and primitive hatred of civilization should have perpetrated such wanton destruction. The question arises, however, why the "civilized" British authorities did not try to forstall this waste by sending troops to occupy the building before the Legionnaries left. Will this be done at least in the case of the Government Printing Press? The cynical remark of the high Government official who said that "there will be more damage done when we go out" seems to point to an answer.
Were it not naive, I would further ask why no disciplinary measures were being taken against the vandals who are under the command of the G.O.C, and in whose name they were "guarding" the Studios?
